Stories

Dozens of churches in the North Carolina Conference have their roots in the generosity of the Ten Dollar Club. Here are just a few of the thriving congregations that have were founded in part through the Ten Dollar Club:

Southern Pines

(est. 1954)

Southern Pines UMC balances itself with small groups for spiritual formation and strong involvement in community and global missions. The church has been involved with projects as varied as constructing church buildings in Peru to providing school supplies for local children.

Pine Valley UMC, Wilmington

(est. 1961)

Pine Valley is one of the conference’s ten largest churches in both its membership and average worship attendance. It remains committed to evangelism: “Just as in Jesus' day when some Greeks came to Philip and said, 'Sir, we wish to see Jesus' (John 12: 20, 21), our aim is to help people see Jesus and grow in their capacity to love and serve Him.”

St. Francis UMC, Cary

(est. 1981)

St. Francis has been critical to bringing people to Christ in the town of Cary as it has grown exponentially. It sees itself as being a Eucharistic church, a church with social outreach, and a church sensitive to the needs of children.

A national model for new churches, Reconciliation seeks out people of all races and cultures. As one member put it: "I look around at the people in our congregation on Sunday morning and know that this is what heaven will be like."
