Dear Friends,
The Ten Dollar Club is nationally recognized for bringing people to Christ by establishing new United Methodist congregations in eastern North Carolina. New churches are the single-most effective means of reaching the unchurched, and through the support of thousands of committed United Methodists, the Ten Dollar Club has been instrumental in keeping the conference growing since 1953.
There are approximately 850 churches in the 56-county area of the NC Conference of the UMC; 11% of these churches were started with support from the Ten Dollar Club. These churches account for more than 65% of the conference’s membership growth since the Ten Dollar Club was founded.
While the Ten Dollar Club has accomplished much, we still have much to do. Every district in the conference has grown in population since 1980, but the number of UMC members per 100 people has declined by 24.3%. We need to do more to reach our neighbors, and the Ten Dollar Club is a great way of helping in that effort.
If you are a member of the Ten Dollar Club, thank you for having made a difference in the life of our conference. If you are not a member, I hope you will prayerfully consider making a decision to join the Ten Dollar Club and share a gift that will give to generations to come…the gift of the Good News of Jesus Christ our Lord. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact our staff.
Grace and Peace,
Al Gwinn
Resident Bishop
